Summary

    Dr. Daniel Young completed his Ph.D. degree (major in Social Work) at the University of Bristol (Bristol University), Master of Christian Studies, registered social worker, counselor and accredited supervisor of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences, City University of Hong Kong. 

      Dr. Young is a senior social worker. He worked in mental rehabilitation services in Hong Kong for more than ten years. He also worked and supervised in different mental rehabilitation service units, including: halfway houses, long-term care homes, assisted employment, Suunyway, and community psychiatric care services.     

      In recent years, Dr. Young has focused on teaching and research on mental rehabilitation and mental health of the elderly, such as exploring the recovery, stigma, quality of life, spirituality, degeneration and related effective intervention methods of mentally ill patients, including cognitive behavioral therapy. Dr. Young has published more than 30 research articles in internationally renowned journals, and has published more than 20 articles and speeches for different international conferences. In addition, Dr. Young combined his past work experience with the theory of mental rehabilitation counseling. In 2013, he wrote and published the book “Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counseling Work – Theory and Cases”(in Chinese), and in 2016, he wrote and published another book. [Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Work: Theory and Cases of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy](in Chinese), and in 2019, wrote and published the third book [Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Work] (in Chinese)as a reference book for the university.
